Short CV/Education and training

  • Born in 1960. Studied communication and psychology at the University of Vienna, Austria, and political science at Ohio University/USA. Doctorate in 1985. Afterwards research associate under the chair of communication studies and political science at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany; also worked independently on issues specific to media effects and media policy. From 1989 to 2006, research associate at the Institute of Technology Assessment at the Austrian Academy of Sciences; developed and lead the research area Health Technology Assessment (HTA). Since April 2006, director of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for HTA. In 2009, received Habilitation (postdoctoral qualification) in social medicine (Medical University of Graz, Austria) with a thesis titled "Resource allocation in healthcare".
