  • Chemistry-Climate Model Validation (CCMVal) activity, a project of the stratosphere programme (SPARC) of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP). Scientific coordinator.

  • German Aerospace Centre (DLR) project ESMVal (Earth System Model Validation) funded by the DLR (2011-2014). Project coordinator.

  • EMBRACE (Earth system Model Bias Reduction and assessing Abrupt Climate change, integrated project), funded by the European Commission within the Seventh Framework Programme (2011-2015). Coordinator for the work package Earth system model evaluation.

  • ClimVal (Climate Model Validation by confronting globally Essential Climate Variables from models with observations): German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) funding programme "MiKlip" (Decadal Predictions) (2011-2014). Project coordinator.

  • Member of the WGNE/WGCM metrics panel, since 2008

  • Member of the JSC/CLIVAR Working Group on Coupled Modelling (WGCM), since 2008

  • Member of the Scientific Steering Group of WCRP's (World Climate Research Programme) SPARC (Stratospheric Processes and their Role in Climate) project

  • Member of the Scientific Steering Group of the IGBP-IGAC (International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme-International Global Atmospheric Chemistry) / WCRP-SPARC Atmospheric Chemistry and Climate Initiative, since 2007

  • Member of the International Commission on the Middle Atmosphere (ICMA) of the International Association of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science (IAMAS), since 2007

  • Scientific coordinator and member of the Scientific Steering Group of the Chemistry-Climate Model Validation Activity (CCMVal) for WCRP's SPARC project, since 2004

  • Member of the German Delegation for the International Maritime Organization (IMO)
