Short CV/Education and training

  • I obtained the master degree in Physics from Università Statale degli Studi di Milano, with a thesis titled “Fundamental photophysical properties in organic semiconductors: the triplet state” (109/110) and the PhD in Physics from Politecnico di Milano, Physics Dept (awarded with merit, 2008).

  • Then, I joined IIT as a post-doc and later on, in 2010, I was appointed at the newly formed Center for Nano Science and Technology @PoliMi. Since 2012, I hold a permanent position as a Researcher Technologist at IIT and I lead the Optocell Lab, for biohybrid interfaces studies, cells culturing and physiology. I developed in the latest years a huge experience in the characterization and implementation of bio-polymer interfaces for optical stimulation of living systems.

  • Currently, my research group comprises 4 PhD students and 5 Post-docs, and is characterized by a very high level of supra-disciplinarity, including physicists, engineers, materials scientists, biotechnologists, and neuroscientists.
