Anja Mihr, born 1969, is a political scientist and Program Director of the Center on Governance through Human Rights at Humboldt Viadrina Governance Platform in Berlin, Germany
She is currently DAAD Associate Professor at OSCE Academy in Bishkek, Kyrgayzstan
In 2001, she received her doctorate at the Freie Universität (FU) Berlin for her dissertation "Amnesty International in the GDR" and worked afterwards at various institutions, including at the German Institute for Human Rights, Berlin, and under the UNESCO-Chair in Human Rights Education at the University of Magdeburg; she was also the director of research at the Humboldt University of Berlin.
From 2006 to 2008, she was the director of the European Master Degree in Human Rights and Democratisation (E.MA) at the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation (EIUC) in Venice, Italy. Mihr held guest professorships at the Beida University in Peking in China, at the Columbia University in New York in the USA, at the Abo Akademi in Finland, at the Yerevan State University in Armenia and at the University of the Basque Country in Spain.
From 2002 to 2006, Mihr was on the board of directors of Amnesty International, Germany; she was the chairperson for two of those years.
