Originally from the Netherlands (MSc in Biomedical Sciences, Cum Laude, Leiden 1995), Krina Zondervan obtained her doctorate in Epidemiology at Oxford University (DPhil, 2000), and an MSc in Genetic Epidemiology at Erasmus University, Rotterdam, Netherlands (2001). Throughout her research career, her interest has focussed on the design and application of epidemiological methods in women's health. She is Principal Investigator at the Nuffield Dept of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics at Oxford University, where she leads a multi-disciplinary research group aimed at understanding the pathogenesis of women's health disorders through genomic, molecular, and environmental epidemiological research methods. She is co-Director of the Endometriosis CaRe Centre in Oxford and Principal Investigator of a number of large-scale collaborative initiatives in the field of endometriosis. She holds numerous international leadership roles and board memberships, and is widely published.
