Other activities and achievements/family

  • Somewhat unusually in medicine in the 1970s, I was able to combine full time clinical training with the raising of a family of four children, now expanded by three stepchildren and eight grandchildren, which I always claim as an important contribution to organisational ability. I have a particular love of Baroque opera although it is more difficult to attend the annual Handel festival from Dundee. I do however attend the Beaune Baroque festival from my house in Burgundy, France. Academic trips abroad are an opportunity to visit art galleries, but there are few examples of the 18-19th century Indian miniatures that I have collected.
