The grants will be used to explore commercialisation of existing projects, ranging from RNA technology to textiles made with artificial spider silk.
Manuela Baccarini and her team in Vienna have discovered a new mechanism that regulates two signaling pathways involved in cell proliferation and survival. An imbalance of these signals can result in uncontrolled cell proliferation and might lead to cancer development.
Manuela Baccarini is Professor of Cell Signaling at the Center for Molecular Biology at the Max F. Perutz Laboratories at Vienna University. The Baccarini group focuses on signal transduction cascades, especially on the MAPK pathway (Mitogen-activated protein kinase).
