AcademiaNet welcomes its 2500 member this week – Dr Anna Rising from Karolinska Institutet and Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. To celebrate, we called Dr Rising and chatted about her research on spider silk, her start-up company Spiber Technologies and life as a woman in science.
AcademiaNet scientists were invited to attend the event at the Royal Society of Edinburgh to discuss gender balance in science as well as the impact of Brexit on British research.
Prof. Katharina Stärk's work monitoring the spread of infectious diseases between animals and humans aims to prevent future pandemics, whereas her consultancy work aims to facilitate the 'spread' of research findings.
